Welcome To Scouting Ireland In Edenderry County Offaly!

Scouting Ireland welcomes you, the reader, to 4th Offaly Scout Group's home page!

Following a year of hard work, planning and perseverence this band of dedicated scouters opened the doors at the Edenderry Parish Centre to boys & girls aged 8 to 14 years in the hope of helping them follow dreams of adventure associated with the scouting movement.

Our meetings take place on Wednesday evenings. The Cub Pack (ages 8 to 11) meet at 6.30pm - 7.30pm followed by the Scout Troop (ages 12 - 14) meeting from 7.45 - 9.00pm. These meetings are training sessions which prepare the youth members for adbentures in the great out doors!

Our ideal is to spend as much time outside as possible. Despite this, due to the newness of our group and the inexperience of our members we are presently spending more time inside than normal! This is allowing us to introduce our youth members to the history of scouting, its meaning in todays world and how they fit into the grand scheme of things...

With our scouters (adult scouts) trained to a minimum stage 2 and garda vetted we now hope to be able to get ouside and enjoy the spring air! To date we have had a group day out in the woods, a scout camp out, a cub hike along the canal and our Grand Opening & Investiture. Each youth member has been awarded with their first badge, which marks the completion of their introduction to scouting, they are now looking forward to earning more!

If you are reading this first post and would like to join us on our adventures, as a youth or adult member of Scouting Ireland please contact us for more information orleave a comment here on this page...
