Scout leaders are the unsung heroes of their communities via @independent_ie

Purely by coincidence I was handed a copy of this article by Kevin Myers while on an airplane with my scout group on our way back from annual camp at the International Scout & Guide Centre in Zelhoff, near Salzburg, Austria.

Weather (sic) it was good planning or just sheer luck we were out of the country for the appalling weather that wreaked havoc on the Jamboree in Punchestown that year. Once of our leaders and his family hadn't been quite so lucky and took pleasure in regailing us with horror stories of this event as we basked in the alpine sun.

The 'camp' ended, we packed up, had our inspection which we passed with flying colours and then with a tear in my eye headed to the airport for our journey home. Reluctantly I took the copy of the 'Indo' as it was passed forward by my section leader on Tuesday August 12 2008.
